I just finished these last night. My wife chose the dark color as that was the only way to get them approved to go in the living room. They sound even better than I had hoped.
Lessons learned:
  • do not use drywall screws, the caused the wood to distort in some places even though I pre-drilled and the holes are difficult to cover
  • the iron-on veneer started out okay but developed some bubble after a few days
  • do not buy cheap router bits
  • buy a table saw, I used a circular saw and an edge guide which did not produce perfect cuts

Great build. Hope the wife likes them as much as you do...Then maybee youll be able to convince her to let you build a subwoofer.  :D

Nice job!  I now find myself in the same situation you likely were in before you built these. I'm looking for a speaker build that will have the WAF I need. I built some Finalist TM's and put them on stands.  The wife loves the sound, but doesn't like the stands.  So, I either need a floor stander that has high WAF, or something that will fit on our bookshelves, with a subwoofer.  I've been eyeing the Speedster and Speedster TMM TL.  Also thinking about the Continuum's with a subwoofer.
What kind of music have you listened to on these? What are you thoughts on the sound of these so far?  What could you compare them against?
