Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Hey Matt, I finished the second round of Blues! They sound really good. And I definitely improved my craftsmanship this time around. I used veneers to finish them (it was my first time using veneers but overall I am happy with how they turned out.) Now I am finally gonna build that subwoofer to go w...

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Hey Matt, I am starting another set of Blues bookshelves (this time a gift for my younger brother) Thanks for all of your help last summer! They still sound great! I will let you know if I have any questions. I am planning on doing everything the same except I am doing 45 degree joints instead of bu...

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Cool, If I got a receiver with a subwoofer out would I be golden as far as the networking goes? Maybe I will just invest in one of those and give my brother my current receiver. I might rather do that than try to figure out how to network with my receiver.

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Cool thanks for the help, another option is my parents are going to give me some money to make a speaker kit for my little brother so maybe I could let him have my current receiver (the one you recommended) and then use some of the money to help buy myself a receiver with a subwoofer output. (It loo...

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Cool, so that would mean I would plug the subwoofer into the receiver and then the speakers into the subwoofer? I'll call up meniscus and talk to them about what might be a good kit for me to build.

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Cool, I mainly listen to Rock and hip-hop so I think a sub would definitely be a good addition. The receiver doesn't have an input for a sub but I was reading that you don't necessarily need one. Would adding a sub mean I need to alter the crossovers my finished speakers?

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
They sound really good! And I can definitely tell that the woofers are breaking in.

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Here they are! I need to touch up the paint around the speakers but they sound great!! The one mistake I made was not cutting the "ears" for the tweeters large enough so I had to do some improvising to make them fit, But I am really happy with how they turned out. Any suggestions for a goo...

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Also do either of you have any recommendations for textbooks that get into the more technical side of speaker design? I would like to learn more about what goes into designing the crossovers and cabinets so maybe someday I could do some of my own custom speakers. I am currently taking courses with t...

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Also finally (hopefully one of the last questions I will ask) I'm sure I am just missing something obvious but how do I tell which node is positive and which is negative on the speaker drivers?

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
Also would it be a good idea to reinforce the front baffle joints with screws in the corners? It looks like the finished product picture you sent me has some screws.

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
I think I am going to go with using the primer and spray paint method. I have a friend who is pretty good with painting wood so she is going to help me (plus then I should be able to have them up and running this weekend). I am thinking of doing the front baffles maroon and the rest black. And sound...

Re: Blues TM first ever build!
I was thinking I would fully finish them. I don't have too much going on this week so hopefully I will be listening to them by this weekend. I have one quick question about the joints and the crossovers. I did butt joints which I read arent always very strong. Should I use screws to re-enforce them ...
