Re: Jeff Bagby Mandolin - phase response
I don't have a pic handy, that speaker was done quite some time ago. But the crossover in the Mandolin is an acoustic LR4 type with good phase tracking. Both drivers are in phase with each other at the crossover, so yes there would be a reverse null. (Having a reverse null is not always important, b...

Re: SpiritWind Monitors
I have kept my SpiritWinds as my reference speaker. I think both drivers in the SW are a little bit better and the overall presentation of the SpiritWind may be the best I have heard. The Kairos are top notch, but I give the edge to the SpiritWinds.

Re: SpiritWind Monitors
Next week I am working on a special woofer module for my SpiritWinds. However, the one using the SB29 for the Kairos will work perfectly for it, because the Kairos and the SpiritWinds are very close in sensitivity and bass extension. Both speakers you mentioned need at least a couple feet from the w...

SpiritWind Monitors
I wanted to let you know, due to the interest in this design that I have received I have made arrangements for Meniscus to offer it as a kit. It uses the Audio Technology 18H52-17-06-SD midwoofer and the Scanspeak D9900 Revelator tweeter. You're on your own with the faceted rosewood cabinet though ....

Re: The Kairos and Continuum Three-Way Loudspeakers
Jeff, Interested in what makes this a "universal" circuit... how well will it work in application to other bass drivers and monitors? -v What makes it universal (or close) is the fact that most woofers are operating in a flat, pistonic range below 500 Hz or so, and the damping resistor he...

The Kairos and Continuum Three-Way Loudspeakers
I have been asked many times about making a three way version of the Kairos and the Continuum. I know several have done so with powered woofers, however, there’s a lot that can be said for a properly designed three-way when it comes to smoothness, low distortion, and proper tonal balance, as well as...

Re: New Eclipse 5.25" woofer....
I find it strange that distributors such as Meniscus would produce their own drivers when they represent other driver manufacturers who now become competitors. Competing with your distributor is not cool. You mean like Parts Express and their dozens of Dayton drivers? Or the ones that have been mad...

Re: New Eclipse 5.25" woofer....
OK. I have finally finished some measurements, and actually listening to the new Eclipse W520R-8 woofer and wanted to share what I have found. Here's a pic of the new woofer: http://meniscusaudio.com/images/W520R8.jpg The woofer is a 5.25 nominal driver using the same frame as the Aurum Cantus AC130...

Re: New Eclipse 5.25" woofer....
Yesterday I was able to take quite a few measurements of the new driver. I will try to get them posted in a couple of days.

Re: Kairos (noob) Build (: will need help :)
From your picture, it doesn't look like the front baffle is slanted back at 14 degrees. If it is not it will begin to create a dip in the response in the crossover region. One thing you can is if put some feet under the front edge so that the speaker is tilted back the right amount. In you wanted a ...

Re: Piccalo build
Daniel, This is strange - I replied to your PM on the Parts Express forum regarding this question, and then I replied to this thread with an answer as well (or at least I thought I did). However, now I do not see my answer, so I will give it a third try. The tweeter is offset in the Piccolo to smoot...

Really looking forward to checking them out. I may start by simply dropping one in a Continuum and seeing how it measures before I do anything else.
