I am thinking about modifying the Docero MLTL design shown on the Docero kit page. I want to add wood side panels something like the Joseph Audio Pulsar, so need the interior narrower to keep the outside width the same. I would like to have the interior dimensions be 6" x 11.08" instead of the 7" x 9.5" size included in the plan The port, interior height and stuffing would remain unchanged. This would have the same cross-sectional area, but would change the dimensions enough that I was worried how the internal wave would react.
Is this change possible without changing the tuning?

Re: Docero MLTL Question
You need to keep the internal volume and dimensions the same as called for in the design. MLTLs are very sensitive to modifications and obviously any significant change in cabinet volume will alter tuning which will throw off the MLTL design. Why not just build the cabinet as is and add the wood side panels over the MDF substrate? This will make the cabinets wider but you won't alter the MLTL as it was modeled. An added benefit will be more rigid side panels and that won't hurt...it will help.
EDIT: I don't know how thick your side panels would be but you will change the diffraction signature of the speaker by widening the cabinet. That didn't occur to me immediately since I was focusing on the MLTL. If you chamfer or roundover the wood side panels I can't see it having a major impact but somebody else would need to chime in and help.

Re: Docero MLTL Question
Those Joseph Audio TMs are sweet, but then again, I guess I'm partial to those Seas drivers.
