I.S.C.T. The G-Force Tang Bang Sub Woofer Build....

Post by UpperCut » Tue Jul 12, 2016 2:11 am

Hi there,
The G-Force sub woofer project was mainly build from MDF (Of Cuts), but the idea came to me after reading so much about this Tang Bang W8-740P 8 inch woofer and with that what people had done with it or tried doing & what different cabinet volumes had been used with it.
The enclosure volume which is empty 21 liter will end up to my calculations in the end with about 13.5 to 14.0 liter so not a lot of volume, but when I look at the recommended enclosure volume of 7.1 liter (.25 cuFt) for a vented, and 3.1 liter (0.11 cuFt) for a sealed my volume idea is still double.  Accompanying this woofer are two 10 inch Passive Radiators as well, and that is it but I really want to see if this woofer will perform with such small volume as predicted as it works quiet well in a larger cabinet like my Renegade project were it is using about 33.5 liter of volume

The very first time weighing the unit in with woofer & 1 PR only = just over 21 Kg ....

Beautiful work! Please let us know how it sounds. I'm curious about the passive woofers.

Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply!
But to answer your question how it all sounds: well, I have build many single units and sets yet if it would come to it I would like to say that in particular this one is the best when it comes to serious type of bass. Enormously powerful, very tight & down into the low 30 Hz range which for my taste is enough.
I mean everybody likes what he or she is building and how it comes out, but I try to be very objective in that because none of my other units which are all larger have that precise yet beautiful reproduction I found within this unit - with this TB chassis and the two PR’s.
