Hi. I am new to diy speakers and this is my first post.
I have built many car systems and built some real nice cabinets for my factory speakers but I have done a full custom. YET.
Ok so bare with me here. When I was a kid my parents bought some used leather furniture from a guy that owned a car audio and customizing shop. In his man cave where we went to pick up the furniture were two massive speakers built into the corners of the walls.
They were set at 45 degrees to the corner, 4 feet wide at the bottom, 1 foot wide at the top, and probably 6 feet tall. They were also tilited out at the top so the entire thing was angled down slightly.
I get all that. Nice build but not special.
The special part were the speakers, 7 of them.
15,12,10,8,6.5,4, and a tweeter.
Can someone explain to me how these things must have worked? This guy was a pro. It would have been done right or it wouldn't have been there. What kind of crossover setup would that require?
And yes I did get to hear them but not loud enough to tell much. I have wondered about these things for literally 25 years. And the more I learn about stereo speaker design, the more I think about them. And unfortunately they are gone. The building isn't even there anymore. Any insight anyone has would be appreciated.

Re: 7 way system ???
A crossover filter for that would be a nightmare, a 3 way is bad enough! My guess is that whatever filter he had messes up the sound more than helps it.
