I have a mandate... SWMBO has dictated small towers for living room. Primarily 2 way with the occasional HT duties, with a decent sub, if needed. I have heard a couple revelator towers, with different tweets, and have enjoyed them. But the Kairos and Triton both look interesting if built as small towers. Baffle width stays the same. Volume remains the same (or could be increased). Even the angled baffle is no real issue. So, would there be an issue with approach?
I am no speaker designer, but have built a number of existing designs that worked out well, but am curious about this approach.
Of course I could just go back to either the Invictus or Zaph's ZRT...
Thanks in advance for any input,

kairos or triton small tower?
Re: kairos or triton small tower?
Just out of curiosity, why not just make some stands for the Kairos? A different cabinet would almost definitely need a reworked xover, and if you changed the height of the Kairo's cabinet you would have to change the dimensions somewhere.
Define "small towers". What size restrictions are you up against? I know some guys here can make some solid recommendations for what to use. I'm a huge fan of my ER18 MTM speakers, but I wouldn't call those small towers.

Re: kairos or triton small tower?
Why no stands? Well, I mocked up three different designs out cardboard; a large tower, a medium tower (revelator sized), and stand mounted monitors. The boss really prefers the smaller tower and wishes it were smaller. This room will see a lot of action, and I really don't disagree.
Since I posted the question I did find a modified Triton as a tower that fits the bill very nicely, but won't go quite as low as your ER18MTM, which on my short list...

Re: kairos or triton small tower?
There would be no technical or performance issue by extruding the bottom footprint of the Kairos down to the floor to put the tweeter at 40" height, fill the cavity with dry sand. Or put a sub in the bottom volume. Just make sure it's not tippy. A footing board 1-2" wider than the footprint will steady it, could be granite or marble for WAF. Mirror gloss black paint finish has especially high WAF, in my experience. Let's see those pics!!
