DIY Speaker & Full range Shootout @ Mensicus Audio

Post by mattsk8 » Thu Jun 26, 2014 12:02 pm

Hello everyone!! I talked with Mark and Chad at Meniscus and it looks like the date will be Saturday, September 6. Obviously everyone is free to bring whatever speakers they'd like to demo, but this year we'd like to have a wide/full range speaker demo, as well as demoing subwoofers since we finally have a spot where we don't need to worry about keeping the peace 8-) . So if you have DIY full range speakers or subs you'd like to bring, we look forward to it!! If you don't have any, get to work :D .

I have a few different kits I'll be bringing, but the one I anticipate the most is hopefully a set of the Blues MTM ML/TL speakers that I hope to have finished by then (thanks again Paul K)!!! I can bring my ER18s as well if anyone would like to demo those again (or for the first time).

I'm open to suggestions, and I hope we have a decent turn out. If you'd like to come, all I ask is that you RSVP here (or on the PETT forum). We'll be grilling again, and we're keeping it fairly open as far as a schedule is concerned, but plan on starting at around 9am Saturday morning and going until our ears are bleeding. Grand Rapids is a fun town, especially in early September. If you'd like to stay a night or 2, let me know and I can make suggestions!!

My Fenghuang will be with me if I can make it (have to consult w/ the wife), and it's basically a full-range since the tweeter comes in at 7.4k. AND- a sub is a good thing since it can't do the bass range very well.

Looking forward to it,
Wolf

I'm in plans to also bring the Nephila design. Nothing has been written on them yet, but they should be assembled by then and listenable.

Ha! who said there's no free lunch in the world... :D Thanks for providing lunch for us!

To answer your drink question, I'm good with either cold/ice water or diet Mountain Dew.
