New guy looking for kit suggestions

Hello, this is my first time to start a topic here. I've seen this topic started before, but when it comes to music preference it usually takes a 180. I listen to a wide variety of new and old music (mostly vinyl), but not much jazz or classical at all. Bass performance is important to me and I have a sub to handle the lowest freqs. The MTM designs interest me the most. I really want to build the Anthologies, but I'd like to keep the cost down a bit for my first project, and keep it a little simpler this time too. I like my Tekton Mini Lores, but I've been wanting to build some speakers for years and the Mandolin MTMs keep attracting my attention. I'm skeptical of the Triton kit that apparently no longer comes with the tweeter it was designed for. I guess I just want suggestions. Am I looking in the right direction? I should add that I have a small/medium room and don't really require tons of volume.

I certainly don't have nearly the experience with the kits offered here as Wolf (for example), but my first kit here was the Adelphos 2-way using the Satori drivers. These speakers are simply amazing in my very biased opinion. The Adelphos are the sister kit to the Kairos speakers. Both kits were developed by Jeff Bagby. These kits are at the top end of the price level here, so I do not know if they are over budget for you.

There is an MTM version of the Adelphos available here, but it is not listed. I can never seem to remember its name, so you'll have to email Mark if you want to know.

I'm out of suggestions other than 'have a blast'!

Thanks for the replies. Finding all the positive reviews on J.B.'s designs is what led me here. I see the Continuums are gonna be available on the 30th. The Adelphos may be over what I'm willing to spend on my first build, don't know yet. I'd like to order something soon because I have two weeks off around christmas and new years. I'm very excited to do this. Head is spinning trying to decide.

First off welcome and also glad to see a fellow Texan on the forum.

You will not be disappointed with the Mandolin MTM, what you get with 2-6-1/2" woofers is pretty amazing.
You might consider the Sopranos, which are similar to the Mandolin but a smaller woofer and price, but would also steer you towards the Swope MTM's by Paul C.. Those sound very good on "other" recordings, that might not be FLAC quality and Paul has a way of adding some bass in his designs.

You will not be disappointed with any designs on here.

I was trying to decide between the Denham and Mandolin MTM, but now Bagby's bass module is in the mix opening up the Continuum, Mandolin, and Piccolo monitors for consideration too. There's so much support for all the designs it makes it even harder to choose a first build. I can see why you can't build just one!

I've had previous experience of the Mandolin MTM too. Very, very nice.
